Terms & Conditions

By using City Cost UK you agree to the following terms. City Cost UK provides UK cost of living and take-home pay estimates for general information only — it does not provide financial advice. We've kept these terms as short and plain as possible.

Last updated: April 2026

1. About these terms

These Terms & Conditions (“Terms”) form a binding agreement between you and City Cost UK (“we”, “us”) governing your use of the website at citycostuk.com and any associated tools (the “Service”). By accessing or using the Service you agree to these Terms. If you do not agree, please do not use the Service.

2. The service

City Cost UK is a free informational tool that estimates UK take-home pay and cost-of-living burden across UK cities. It is provided for general information and educational purposes only.

3. Use of the site

You agree to use the Service responsibly. In particular you agree:

  • To use the Service only for lawful, personal and non-commercial purposes (unless we have agreed otherwise in writing).
  • Not to attempt to disrupt the Service, scrape it at scale, reverse engineer it, or interfere with its security or availability.
  • Not to submit anyone else’s personal data without their permission.
  • Not to misrepresent results from the Service or use them in a way that could mislead others.
  • To be at least 16 years old, or to have the consent of a parent or guardian if younger, where local law requires.

4. Not financial advice

City Cost UK does not provide financial, tax, legal, mortgage, investment or career advice. The calculator outputs estimates based on publicly available cost averages and current UK tax bands. They are intended to help you think about affordability — not to make decisions on their own.

You should not rely on the Service as the sole basis for any financial decision. Before committing to a job offer, tenancy, loan, relocation, mortgage application or any other significant financial commitment, you should speak to a qualified, regulated professional adviser who can review your full personal circumstances.

5. Accuracy of information

We use UK 2024/25 tax bands and city-level cost averages, but actual figures vary by employer, postcode, contract type, household composition and personal circumstances. We make reasonable efforts to keep the data accurate and up to date, but we do not warrant that the information is complete, current or error-free. Treat all results as indicative estimates only.

6. Third-party links, advertising and Google AdSense

The Service displays advertising served by Google AdSense and may include links to third-party websites, including affiliate links from which we may earn a commission at no extra cost to you. Google, as a third-party vendor, uses cookies (including the DoubleClick DART cookie) to serve ads based on your prior visits to this and other websites. Your use of advertising on the Service is also governed by Google’s advertising policies. You can manage or opt out of personalised advertising at Google Ads Settings. Full disclosures, including how we obtain consent in the UK/EEA under Google’s EU User Consent Policy, are set out in our privacy policy. We are not responsible for the content, accuracy, products, services or privacy practices of any third-party site or advertiser. Following a third-party link is at your own risk.

7. Intellectual property

The Service, including its design, text, graphics, logos and underlying code, is owned by us or our licensors and is protected by UK and international intellectual-property laws. You may view, share and reference the Service for personal, non-commercial use, but you may not copy, republish or commercially exploit it without our prior written permission.

8. Limitation of liability

The Service is provided on an “as is” and “as available” basis without warranties of any kind, whether express or implied, including (without limitation) warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, accuracy or non-infringement.

To the fullest extent permitted by law, neither we nor our directors, employees or partners shall be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential or punitive losses, or for any loss of profits, revenue, data, savings, opportunity, goodwill or anticipated savings, arising out of or in connection with your use of (or inability to use) the Service — even if we have been advised of the possibility of such loss.

Nothing in these Terms excludes or limits our liability for death or personal injury caused by our negligence, for fraud or fraudulent misrepresentation, or for any other liability that cannot lawfully be excluded or limited.

9. Indemnity

You agree to indemnify and hold us harmless from any claim, loss or demand (including reasonable legal fees) arising out of your breach of these Terms or your misuse of the Service.

10. Suspension and termination

We may suspend, restrict or terminate your access to the Service at any time if we reasonably believe you have breached these Terms or misused the Service. You may stop using the Service at any time.

11. Changes to the service or terms

We may update the Service and these Terms from time to time. The “last updated” date at the top of this page reflects the most recent changes. Continued use of the Service after a change constitutes acceptance of the updated Terms.

12. Governing law

These Terms are governed by the laws of England and Wales. The courts of England and Wales have exclusive jurisdiction over any dispute arising out of or in connection with the Service or these Terms, unless mandatory consumer-protection laws in your country of residence give you the right to bring proceedings elsewhere.
